About Me
In the past 10+ years, I've worked with several start ups and corporations in tech industry. I am very passionate about encouraging diversity and inclusion at work and beyond. I especially believe in empowering and educating women and people from diverse backgrounds to be the kind of leaders who set the world's agenda to prioritize kindness.
Most recently, I worked as a Software Engineering Manager at WhatsApp. I joined WhatsApp as the 19th engineer in 2012 and was one of the original 55 members of WhatsApp prior to the acquisition by Facebook. Working on an app used by over 2 billion people around the world gave me the opportunity to work cross-functionally with teams across the globe. |
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Exaltitude
- I'm the Founder of Exaltitude. Growing and nurturing future leaders of Silicon Valley has been my passion.
- Exaltitude is a learning community for early/mid career engineers who are looking to get to the next level. Through the 6-week Leadership Circle program, gain more clarity about yourself and your career goals.
Facebook / WhatsApp - Engineering
- I joined WhatsApp as the 19th engineer in 2012 and was one of the original 55 members of WhatsApp prior to the $18 billion acquisition to Facebook.
- After transitioning to an Engineering Manager role in 2017, I went to London to build a new WhatsApp engineering office in 2018-2019. I nurtured the WhatsApp engineering culture through team building and lead growth strategies in partnership with recruiting and leadership. Our London engineering office grew to ~100 engineers while I was there.
Facebook / WhatsApp - Diversity
- Supporting DE&I is one of my greatest passions
- I created the Diversity Council to develop and drive strategies to increase the number of underrepresented people and support their professional growth through recruiting events, workshops and discussions with leadership team.
- I also founded the Women@WA group and served on the Women@ Facebook Committee as an Internal Partnerships Lead to promote alliance between all brands - Facebook/WhatsApp/Instagram/Oculus with 5000+ women. We hosted professional development and community building events - 94% of women said it helped them feel more connected with the community at work
Before WhatsApp
- I started out my career at IBM working with enterprise software in 2007. Then took some time off to travel around the world while working on various contract projects with clients including Samsung Electronics, Seoul National University and tech startups
